History
Steeped in the intrigue of Kentucky’s original pioneer, Daniel Boone, early American settlements, and a pivotal role in Civil War skirmishes, Winchester offers unique views into our past. The Bluegrass Heritage Museum houses many original exhibits with nods to local lore. If you are a bluegrass music fan, then you’ll particularly enjoy the year- round exhibit dedicated to Homer Ledford — a renowned instrument maker and bluegrass musician from Kentucky whose dulcimers, banjos, mandolins, guitars and ukuleles are sought by musicians from all over the world.
