Heartstrings Songwriters Circle Showcase @ Cairn Coffee House
Nov 15 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The featured Singer/Songwriters for this showcase are…

Jordan Miller
Whitney Slone Adams
Ray Adams
Trish Torline (Host/Artist)

The Heartstrings Songwriters’ Circle is an “In the Round” style music showcase held at “Cairn Coffee” in Winchester, 7:00pm – 9:00pm the first Friday of every month. Here, 3 local or regional Artists will share their original songs & the stories behind them. The showcase is recorded and portions used for the Heartstrings Podcast on SoundCloud & ITunes!

Every showcase we hope to have a “Student Spotlight” in which we will give one young Singer/Songwriter an opportunity to perform their songs in a professional setting and receive constructive feedback on their songs and performance from our featured Singer/Songwriters.

At the Showcase, all the featured songwriters will talk a little about the inspiration behind the songs they are performing and then play it live.

Our Mission is simple…
1. To showcase independent singer/songwriters with opportunities to perform and share their original music.
2. To provide programs to encourage and support aspiring and veteran singer/songwriters in the development and growth of their skills.

James and the Giant Peach Jr. @ Leeds Center for the Arts

Leeds Center for the Arts presents James and the Giant Peach Jr!
November 8-10 and 15-17, 2019.
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM
Sundays at 2:30 PM

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is a classic!

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Performed by a cast of over fifty students ages eight through high school, this dazzling show is filled with twists and turns, high energy music and dance, and one giant peach!

Artworks by Kathleen Piercefield @ Leeds Center for the Arts

We are so excited to have Kathleen Piercefield’s artwork on display from October 21 through November 22, 2019! A member of Tiger Lily Press, Kathleen is a trained printmaker and painter from Northern Kentucky. Her artworks are exhibited regionally and nationally, and are part of public and private collections.

Kathleen grew up in the Chicago area, but has lived in Kentucky for most of her adult life. She studied studio arts at Murray State University in western Kentucky, took watercolor classes at the Baker-Hunt Foundation in Covington, and later earned a BFA in printmaking from Northern Kentucky University. Since 2015 she has been a member of Tiger Lily Press, and has taught workshops in collagraph and drypoint – two of her favorite printmaking processes — at their studio in Cincinnati. Her own studio and home are in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. Nature and living creatures figure prominently in her work, and her most current project is a series of prints and paintings documenting the moths she observes each summer at her back porch lights.

Kathleen will be at Leeds Center for the Arts for an artist’s reception on November 22, 2019 at 6:00 PM. Come meet this talented artist!
