Hamon Haven Winery of Winchester will have its grand opening on Saturday, June 28 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The owners Andy and Carrie Hamon invite everyone to sample the wines and tour the winery and vineyard.
Andy has had a dream of owning his own winery and vineyard since 1980. The dream started with making kit wines in their basement laundry room. That dream has expanded to a full fledged winery, and a one-acre vineyard.
The Hamon vineyard began in 2000 with thirty grape varieties and has recently been narrowed down to nine varieties that grow well in the area and represent Kentucky style wines. At the amateur winemaker competitions of Indianapolis International Competition and the Kentucky Wine Fest at Nicholasville several of the wines have won gold, silver and bronze medals. Producing quality wines such as Catawba, Chambourcin, Seyval, “Out of This World”, and Blackberry has inspired Andy to open a winery and tasting room to share the fruit of their labor with others.
The atmosphere of the Tasting Room is warm and cozy. There you can enjoy light food with cheese and meat trays when you call ahead for reservations. You can also schedules small private parties as well as wine tasting education, food paring events, and tours of the winery and vineyard.
Hamon Haven Winery is now a member of Kentucky Proud and if you are up for adventure you can visit them at some of these Saturday sponsored events.
The Hamon’s love to teach others about wine tasting and wine making. They are excited about sharing their knowledge and wines with friends (even those they haven’t met yet). Don’t miss this opportunity to visit an up and coming new winery.
