The Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival
August 29-31, 2008
Winner of Southeast Tourism Society’s August 2008 Top Twenty Events in Southeast States!
The Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival began as a small arts and crafts festival held around the courthouse square in downtown Winchester. It has grown into a three day event with activities held all over Winchester and Clark County. The festival has become quite the tradition for Labor Day weekend here in Winchester. To date some 30,000 visitors make their way to our community each year and we’re so happy to be able to provide a quality weekend the whole family can enjoy!
We kick off the weekend on Friday evening at 6:30p.m. with a street dance in downtown Winchester. It’s a great night of entertainment and all you need to bring your dancing shoes and your best moves.
Saturday features a 5K Run, Walk with Friends (for those of us who can’t run), Arts, Crafts, a Talent Contest (with cash prizes), Paint Ball, Music, and let’s not forget the fantastic food! For the kids we have Train Rides, Slides, a Rock Climbing Wall, and for the brave of heart, a Mechanical Bull.
The fun continues on Sunday with a Community Church Service in the Park, and then more Arts, Crafts, and Music!
You won’t want to miss our Sunday evening concert at Lykins Park! Last year some 12,000 country music fans came out to witness a fantastic performance by Rodney Atkins. This year Jason Michael Carroll and Luke Bryan will take center stage. At dusk Zambelli International will light up the evening skies with a wonderful fireworks display!
It’s a great weekend and we invite you to join us as we celebrate 30 years of the Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival. There may even be a few surprises!
